The Life and Times Of Thangal Kunju Musaliar
After travelling to Sri Lanka, Brunei, Singapore and Malaysia for employment,
Thangal Kunju Musaliar returned home and started a cashew processing unit, which became successful.
In early 1940's he purchased raw cashew from small scale farmers, and supplied the kernels
to industrialists after processing. He then set up the first full-fledged cashew factory in Kerala.
The company 'A. Thangal Kunju Musaliar and Sons Private Limited' was incorporated in Kerala on 10 Jun, 1946.
In the 1940s, Musaliar had 26 cashew units and is believed to have employed around 25,000 to 30,000 people directly.
He was called the 'Cashew King' in national and international markets, and Fortune magazine named him
as the single biggest individual employer in the world, at the time.
India Post issued a commemorative stamp on Musaliar on 26 October ,2001.

Our journey begins with Prince Snack Bar,
a small venture focused on fresh, quality snacks—a
foundation for our commitment to excellence.
1980
We expand into retail with Supreme Supermarket
(then known as Supreme Traders), a department
store meeting the daily needs of Kollam’s residents.
1984
Supreme Bakers is launched, marking our entry into
the baked goods industry with a promise of freshness and innovation.
1986
Driven by public demand, we open our second branch of
Supreme Bakers, bringing our offerings to more customers.
1999
Supreme Nutrifud, our manufacturing and marketing division
for cakes, is launched to further expand our reach and presence.
2002
We introduce Allspice, Kollam’s first multi-cuisine restaurant,
bringing diverse flavors to our community.
2009
Supreme ventures into Trivandrum city,
expanding our presence beyond Kollam.
2011
Oriental Spice is launched, offering
authentic and delicious Oriental cuisine.
2015
Supreme Gourmet is established,
adding another dimension to our offerings.
2016
Uppercrust was launched, specializing in
fine pastries and an upscale cafe experience.
2019
Supreme expands into Cochin city,
continuing our growth across Kerala.
2021
Supreme Experienza, Kerala’s first food destination,
opens in Kollam, creating a unique space for food lovers
to experience a variety of culinary delights.
2024
Allspice is repositioned as a Destination Restaurant,
likely the first of its kind in South India, celebrating the history,
legacy, and story of Kollam.
2024
Now & Then, India’s first Food Now category market,
is launched, offering instant dining,
snacking, and cooking solutions.
